Kelham Island Museum Wedding
Kelham Island is a photographer magnet, so when we were asked by Ross and Katy to cover their wedding there, we were chuffed to bits!
It was always going to be a challenge, as their wedding was at the end of January. There’s not a lot of light to play with, to say the least. The weather was always going to be a challenge too, and sure enough, we had a bit of everything!
Sunny and cold in the morning, a torrential downpour mid-morning during the prep shots. We were treated to a bit of sun, then snow just after the ceremony had begun. Of course, more rain to top the day off when we got to Kelham Island Museum!
To be fair, neither Ross or Katy let the elements get to them. They certainly didn’t feel the cold biting wind, as Katy had a belting fur jacket and Ross was in full Military Dress – complete with a sword and spurs!
Needless to say, the formal shots were done as quickly as possible. All 150 guests headed indoors and straight to the bar!
The space they’d got for the day was huge, but yet just right for the number of people there. Warmed and watered, a great local catering company, PJ Taste, served up the wedding breakfast which was ploughed in to by one and all. Before we knew it we were ready for the speeches. As always, the father of the bride and the groom’s speeches were suitably personal, emotional and heartfelt… then unstepped “Denty” (one of our favourite Grooms from 2015), and “Batts”!
I won’t go into detail, but Ross and Batts had been the Best Men at a wedding the year before, which is where we obviously met them. This was unfinished business for Chris. He now has the microphone! Both “Denty” and “Batts” then proceeded to make Ross the groom to crumble over the next 45 minutes! YES, THAT’S RIGHT, 45 MINUTES!!
Tell you what, I’ll shut up now, and let you have a look at their pictures!
