Left Bank Leeds
Left Bank Leeds is our favourite church… that’s not a church… anymore!
Karen and Ross have been friends of ours for many years, and they started out pretty much in the same way that Clare and I did. Best of friends, who eventually saw what a good thing they’d got. When they told us that they were getting married, we couldn’t have been more over the moon for them!
Knowing them as we do, we knew that this would be a day of laughter and shenanigans. What do you expect from a full on Yorkshire lass and a cheeky Geordie (and don’t even ask about Kelly! lol!) Not sure if Left Bank Leeds knew what kind of day they were in for!
It was the first time we’d visited Left Bank Leeds. It’s just between Leeds City Centre and Headingly. If you want a wedding that allows you to truly have it how YOU want it, then don’t look anywhere else!
It’s a great imposing building, a deconsecrated church. You can decorate to your hearts content. It has an awesome balcony that runs all the way around the top of it too! The only caveat is that the parking is a bit of a dick, but we had a space reserved. No complaints from us then!
The Humanist Ceremony, the Celebrant (Christine) and the vows were simply brilliant. Like many people, family dynamics had been a cloud at times for Karen, so it was a powerful thing seeing her walk down the aisle towards Ross on her own.
This was only matched by the speech she gave from the pulpit during the wedding breakfast. It was beautiful, personal and it marked the start of a new happier chapter for her, Ross and their 2 wonderful children.
Thanks to who knows why, the caterers managed to make everything later by several hours. Thanks for that! And as there are no gardens as such at Left Bank, we had to get creative with the bits of green we could find. No problem!
At this point, Ross really taped into his inner model. He was on point! No doubt some of the expressions and comments will, in time, become legendary!
On to the first dance, and Clare disappeared up to the rafters. To be fair, it must have been pretty scary up there. It wasn’t very wide, and it was pitch black, 30ft above the dance floor! The things we do to get a shot – and what shots we got!! Lol
Having known these 2 for as long as we have, I could right pages on them, but I’m going to shut up and let you enjoy their wedding pictures. It was a true privilege being a key part of the day for special friends.
We love them to bits, and always will.
