The Deep Wedding – Hull Wedding Photography
When people book us for winter weddings, we often get asked “are you any good in low light?”… well yes, yes we are!
Winter is definitely a challenge, but covering a wedding underground, in the bowels of The Deep in Hull, well that’s a whole different ball game!
It’s the second time we’ve worked there, and as it was pointed out to us before we “couldn’t use flash… as fish don’t have eyelids… so they can’t blink when it goes off!” For the record, they don’t have toes or elbows either, so no dancing for them!
Katy got ready just 10 minutes from the venue, whilst Adam got himself sorted in Leeds, and then headed over by coach with all the guests. For once it was the groom that was (nearly) late, but that was mainly thanks to traffic on the A64, so it wasn’t his fault really!
Guests all seated, a stoney faced registrar with a pen at the ready (the other one was ok though – registrar, not the pen!!) , sharks and turtles gliding past the ceremony – surreal and completely awesome!
I do’s done, we waited patiently for fish to swim back round before we took the signing shots… well you don’t want an empty tank in the background do you!
A personal tour of the fish-filled tanks, greeting to the Penguins, a nod to the Sharks, Rays and other slippery characters and it was off upstairs for bubbles and speeches!
It was all over far too quickly, as weddings always are, and before we knew it, it was farewell The Deep and hello Leeds, for the evening reception. We got to Weetwood Hall before anyone else, so we did our test shots and got ready for everyone to arrive. When they did, we headed of to the woods to get a few close up shots of Adam & Katy, and then we were pretty much into the first dance!
It makes such a nice change to have a truly unique venue to work at, so if you fancy something a little different for your wedding, get yourselves to Hull, and specifically to The Deep! 10/10 Mr and Mrs Crabtree!
